As in solids, the molecules of a liquid are also closely packed together which makes them incompressible. However, unlike a solid, the bonds holding the molecules together in a liquid are very week which gives a liquid the ability to flow. Things that flow are called fluids. All liquids flow to fill the space in which they are contained. Some liquids flow more easily than others. This resistance to flow, or stickiness, is called viscosity. The speed at which objects can move through liquids is determined by the liquid's viscosity. The more viscous the liquid, the more difficult it is to push something, like a boat, through it.
