Daedalus the Inventor | page 2 |
Daedalus and his son Icarus were prisoners. An angry king punished Daedalus. But Daedalus did nothing wrong. The father and son were locked in a tower. From the tower window, he watched the birds fly. He wanted to escape. The only way to escape was to fly out of prison.
He saved the wax from the candles in the tower. Daedalus and Icarus collected small and large bird feathers. Daedalus built a pair of wings using wax and feathers and thread. He used thread to keep the large feathers together. He used wax to keep the small feathers together. Daedalus wanted his wings to be the same as real bird wings. He put the small feathers under the large feathers. Daedalus' wings looked just like real bird wings.
