The Dance of the Eagle | page 4 |
Then the hunter saw a village and heard a drum beat. The men said it was a mother's heartbeat. The men led the hunter to the mother. She was a beautiful woman dressed in black. The hunter knew she was the mother of the dead eagle. The eagle mother knew the hunter killed her son. She knew that the hunter was sorry and respected her son. Eagle people lived in the village. They were eagles that changed into people. The eagle mother and the eagle people taught the hunter a dance. It was the Dance of the Eagle. The dance brought luck for hunting. The eagle mother told the hunter to teach the dance to the Eskimo hunters and Eskimo families.
