The Dance of the Eagle | page 1 |
Once there was a starving Eskimo hunter. He shot and killed an eagle for food. However, he felt bad for killing such a beautiful bird so he stuffed it and put in a place of honor.
One day, the hunter was lost in a blizzard. He was rescued by people carrying feathers. They took him to their village. They were the family of the eagle he had killed. Because he had honored the eagle, he would be taught the secret Dance of the Eagle.
When he found his way back to his own village, he taught the people this Dance. Every year, they performed it exactly the same. They never had trouble finding enough food and they never hunted the eagle again.
As we learn more about the laws of nature, we gain understanding and power. New myths and stories tell about what we have learned.
