Airplane Wings and Bodies | page 1 |
The first airplanes were made out of wood and cloth. They had to have two pairs of wings. The part under the cloth is called a frame. The frame was made strong so the airplane would not break. Later, airplane frames were made of metal. There was no more wood or cloth. The airplanes were stronger and could fly faster. They did not need two pairs of wings anymore. Most airplanes have one wing, now.
Engineers are still making better airplanes. They make better metals
and better parts.
