An airplane has a skin! It is made of metal. The metal is very thin and will bend. Airplane builders do not want it to bend a lot. Engineers make special metal plates. These plates have pieces of metal on the back. This makes the plate stiff, so it won't bend. Think of a kite. It has two sticks that keep the paper ior cloth stiff.
These plates are the skin of the airplane. They are stiff and won't
bend very easily.
