An airplane has many parts. There are the wings, the tail and the body of the airplane. Inside the wings, tail and body are many small parts. These parts are usually made of metal or plastic.

All of these parts hold up the heavy weight of the airplane. Each part does a little bit to help. If one part breaks, the other parts take some of the load (weight).

The airplane has to fly fast and sometimes through strong winds. If too many parts break the plane can crash. Airplane builders (engineers) put in the strongest airplane parts. With strong parts that won't break, the plane will not crash.
