Wright Again

Wright Again

Finally! Kitty Hawk! - Wednesday, September 12, 1900

The History: After dealing with gale winds the night before, Israel Perry's schooner, the Curlicue, did not get underway until the afternoon of September 12th.

Wilbur was sore from sleeping on deck and accommodations onboard the boat were so dirty that Wilbur did not want to eat the food Israel Perry offered. Instead he ate a jar of jelly that Katharine had placed in his suitcase.

The boat reached Kitty Hawk at about 9:00 PM that evening. It was dark out and too late for Wilbur to try and locate Mr. William "Bill" Tate. Again, Wilbur slept on the deck of the Curlicue.
