The History: The Wrights took the glider to Kill Devil Hills. The wind proved to be too strong and it was decided they would try again tomorrow. The brothers returned to Kitty Hawk.

Kill Devil Hills is 4 miles south of Kitty Hawk. It is believed that Bill Tate arranged for them to rent a wagon and horse to carry the glider from Kitty Hawk to Kill Devil Hills.
