The Weather Station At Kitty Hawk, North Carolina - Friday, August 3, 1900

The History: Wilbur had written to the Weather Bureau in Washington, DC on November 27, 1899 requesting information on wind velocities. He received a reply on December 9, 1899. Based on this information and Octave Chanute's encouragement to find an area with sandy hills the Wrights had decided on Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

To confirm this Wilbur wrote to the weather station at Kitty Hawk on August 3, 1900 asking about the winds, weather, terrain and accommodations.
