Mr. Joseph J. Dosher Of The Kitty Hawk Weather Bureau - Thursday, August 16, 1900 The History: Mr. Joseph J. Dosher of the Kitty Hawk Weather station responded to Wilbur's letter of August 3rd. Dosher writes Wilbur that the beach at Kitty Hawk is a mile long without foliage and that the surrounding 60 mile area looks the same. Dosher confirmed that the winds blow mostly from the north and northeast during the months of September and October. He tells Wilbur that although they could find board [meals], there will not be a house to rent so he should bring tents to live and sleep in. He also explains to Wilbur how to obtain transportion to Kitty Hawk from Roanoke Island.
