Anemometer by Richard in Paris - Tuesday, March 26, 1901 The History: Chanute and his wife have spent the winter in southern California due to his wife's poor health. He replies to Wilbur's letter of March 19th from San Diego, California. Chanute recommends an anemometer made by Richard of Paris, France. He feels it is the best made today. Chanute is happy to lend the Wrights his own equipment. The Robinson [cup] anemometer will only provide average wind velocities. The Richard anemometer is small and portable and can attach to the machine. Chanute conveys to Wilbur that he plans to return to Chicago in mid-April.
