High Winds And A Whistling Bottle - Wednesday, October 15, 1902 The History: In his personal diary, Orville noted that they went to bed at 7:30 P.M. Only three people are left at the camp: Orville, Wilbur and George Spratt. They were woken up by a huge storm which swayed the building. Wind passing over the top of a bottle created a whistling sound all night (although Orville tried to find the bottle). It was cold. "We found it exceedingly cold before morning, about what we could call a five-blanket night, and as we only had four we were compelled to suffer some." Dan Tate brought supplies which had arrived from Elizabeth City via Captain Midgett and the schooner Lou Willisearlier than usual today. The wind had died down and they attempted some glides. After they ate the wind had died down even further and two glides were made from Big Hill.
