Wright Again

Strength Test - Tuesday, November 17, 1903

The History: Orville recorded warm weather and a pleasant day in his diary. During the day the winds were 10-12 meters/second [22-27 miles/hour]. The evening sky was clear with few clouds. That evening the stars were bright with just a few clouds.

The brothers made from changes to wires on the Flyer and the center uprights [the posts holding and separating the upper and lower wings].

The Wrights also tested the structural strength of the machine. The wing tips were supported and raised. The Flyer supported its own weight, and in particular, 440 pounds located at the center of the machine without any problems.
