Wright Again

The Lebaudy Brothers - Wednesday, November 18, 1903

The History: In his personal diary, Orville reported rain during the night and throughout the morning. The winds were 10-12 meters/second [22-27 miles/hour]. It was so cold during the day, they stopped working on the machine.

By 3 PM the weather had cleared somewhat and Orville headed to the Kill Devil Life Saving Station to retrieve the mail. They received a letter from their father, Bishop Milton Wright ["Pop"] and a newspaper from their neighbor in Dayton, George Feicht.

The paper included an article on the Lebaudy brothers (Paul and Pierre). In a lighter-than-air machine more like a dirigible [blimp] than a balloon, the Frenchmen flew 44 miles in 1 hour 40 minutes.
