American Association For The Advancement Of Science - Sunday, December 27, 1903 The History: Octave Chanute contacted Wilbur today. Although their sister, Katharine, had contacted Chanute with the news of the first flight, Chanute had not heard from the Wrights since he left their Kill Devil Hills camp on November 12th. Headed for the American Association for the Advancement of Science winter meeting in St. Louis, Chanute will present a paper on aerial navigation. "It is fitting that you should be the first to give the Association the first scientific account of your performance. Will you do so?" He asks Wilbur to telegram him at the Southern Hotel on Monday.
Quotations from the book The Papers of Wilbur and Orville Wright, Volume 1 by M. McFarland.
