The History: Wilbur thanks Octave Chanute for the information he enclosed on June 7th. However the Wrights have not found existing information on screws [propellers] useful and they have developed their own theories on their operation, design and thrust which can be obtained.

In particular their propeller will not be stationary [remain in one place, like a fan]. They will mount two propellers on their Wright Flyer and those propellers will move forward through the air with the machine. This adds a complexity to their development of the propellers which other researchers have considered but not resolved.
