The Brothers' Objection - Sunday, August 2, 1903 The History: Wilbur acknowledged his receipt of Octave Chanute's letters dated July 27th and July 28th. Wilbur assures Chanute that Captain Ferber has not offended the Wrights. Ferber would be welcome at their North Carolina camp, but the brothers only will be there for two months and will not be devoted to glider testing. Wilbur thanks Chanute for omitting any details of their glider's operation in Chanute's article for Revue Generale des Sciences. However, Wilbur clarifies that the brothers' objection "was not that it gave away our secrets, but that it attributed to us ancient methods which we do not use". Quotation from the book The Papers of Wilbur and Orville Wright, Volume 1 by M. McFarland.
