Winds Are Too Low To Glide - Tuesday, October 6, 1903

The History: At 4-5 meters/second the winds were too low to practice hovering today. Dan Tate worked on walkways around the new building. Wilbur and Orville worked on a new upholstered cradle. The brothers would lie on top of the cradle [on their stomachs] to glide in their machine. The upholstery would make the cradle softer and more comfortable.
