Wright Again

Wright Again

Constructing The New Machine - Friday, October 9, 1903

The History: As the Wrights arose this morning the winds blew 15-20 meters/second [34-45 miles/hour]. They unpacked more of the freight received yesterday. Included in this shipment were materials for their new machine [the Wright Flyer].

The brothers began working on the upper surface of the new machine.

As the day progressed the winds rose to 75 miles/hour. Some portions of their building floor were flooded under several inches of water. In spite of this, they nailed paper to the edge of their roof [to stop the damage] and Dan Tate headed for home.
