Wright Again

Wright Again

More Wind, Rain and Cold - Sunday, October 25, 1903

The History: In his personal diary Orville Wright continued to report the weather conditions which kept the brothers indoors.

The temperature dropped and wind and rain persisted throughout the night. Water ponds formed in the sand around their Kill Devil Hills campsite. Orville noted that it was so cold and damp that the brothers created a makeshift stove out of a carbide can and sat on the floor to avoid the smoke as it rose. Carpets were tacked on different surfaces to keep the wind out.

John Moss of Collington Island visited and ate with the brothers. By 5 PM the weather had cleared up.
