"Weather Too Cold For Work" - Saturday, November 7, 1903 The History: The brothers and Octave Chanute woke to a bright, sunny but very cold day. At 10 AM, they took the modified 1902 machine out and conducted a few glides for Octave Chanute. However, the temperature was very cold and the winds uncooperative and they returned to camp. After lunch, Reverand Davis and his friend Mr. Hallowell came by the campsite hoping to see the brothers glide. The brothers showed their visitors the new machine and engaged in a lively conversation. Hallowell invited the group to the theatre performance in Kitty Hawk. Orville noted in his diary, "Weather too cold for work." Quotation from the book The Papers of Wilbur and Orville Wright, Volume 1 by M. McFarland.
