Returning Boomerang
WHY? question_guy
The boomerang returns to the children because of the way it is shaped. When you throw a returning boomerang, the shape of the curved arms and the spinning of the boomerang cause the air flowing underneath it to lift one side and turn the boomerang. Returning boomerangs were originally used for hunting as well, but they are used mostly for sport today. Some returning boomerangs have been thrown as far as 100 yards away and 150 feet high and have still returned. Boomerangs are not only from Australia. They have now been found on four other continents. The oldest boomerang was made from ivory and dates from 21,000 B.C. This boomerang was found in Poland in 1987.
