MATERIALS NEEDED:

plastic plates

sink with faucet

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

one Discuss with the class the material under Teacher Text.

two Have each student do the experiment with the plate and water, differing the water pressure with the faucet.

three After each student has done the experiment talk as a class about what has happened in relationship to the laminar vs. turbulent flow.

four Challenge question: Can the students think of other things where laminar and turbulent flow are present?
