WHY?

- You'll see the tip of the straw move as the atmospheric pressure
changes. When a storm comes through, the pressure in the jar will
be a little higher than the pressure outside. The balloon will
swell out a little and the pointer will point to a lower number
on your ruler.

ASSESSMENT: Can the student communicate
what they observed?

student is able to communicate that as the air becomes thicker,
the pressure is greater and the air becomes thinner, the pressure
is less. Greater pressure is a "High" and less pressure is
a "low". Low pressure indicates stormy weather. High
pressure indicates fair weather. A barometer measures air pressure.

become thick or thin. This is called air pressure. Ar pressure
can be high or low.
