Pass out the books on hummingbirds and helicopters and have the
students look through the books for information on them.
Discuss together the information that the students gather on the
hummingbirds and helicopters. Also, discuss the information in the
Teacher Text with the class.
Pass out the paper and have the students make two columns. One
headed 'hummingbird' and the other 'helicopter'.
Ask the students to put down all the similarities between the
hummingbird and helicopter opposite each other in the two columns, so
that the similarities are on the same line of the paper. Have them
include information about the speed, direction of flight, flight
patterns, and pictures (if possible, if not a simple drawing).
Have the students then share their findings with the class.
As an extension have the class design and draw a new type of
helicopter. Then have them share the pictures with the rest of the
class.
