Go over the material in the Teacher Text with the class. Have a
discussion on the material.
Pass out the library books on the flying dinosaurs, birds, and
airplanes.
Have a discussion about them in relationship to their wings. Share the
pictures together in class from the books. Also, discuss the area of
probability of whether the flying dinosaurs were true fliers or just
gliders.
Pass out the notebook paper and have the students list as much
information about the flying dinosaurs, birds, and airplanes in
relationship to wing shape and ability and the similarities between the
three of them. Have the students include information about the apparent
ability of the flying dinosaurs to both glide and fly.
Have the students share their information with one another.
Then ask the students to draw a picture of the wing of a flying
dinosaur, a bird, and an airplane and label the similarities between the
three.
Display the pictures on a bulletin board.
