MATERIALS NEEDED:

construction paper or colored paper

scissors

scotch tape

rice

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

one Use the colored paper pattern to make a box **.

two Fill the box with rice to the top.

three Turn the box over. Count the rice. (could be done as a cooperative group)

four Ask: "How much rice was in your box? How many boxes would it take to make 500? 1000? a million?"

five Team the students up into pairs to work on the various sections of the dinosaur. Discuss with the students the importance of cooperation on this project.

**Adaption idea: Use empty film canisters to collect rice.
