WHY?
|
|
-
Each time we move there are forces at play that we may not really
be aware of, but they are always present. Only in space is there no
friction. This is because there is no air in space to cause friction.
Satellites can therefore orbit the earth without stopping. Sir Isaac
Newton's contributions to science are far reaching and each of us have a
fuller understanding of these forces on earth because of the findings of
Newton. Just think, maybe you will discover something new about our
natural world that will influence the rest of us. And then you could say
like Newton, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders
of giants". In this statement Newton was paying a compliment to Galileo
and others who made the discoveries on which he was able to build.

ASSESSMENT: Can the student communicate
what they observed?
|
 |
|
|
Student is able to communicate what happens when they jerk the paper
out from under a book in relationship to Newton's First Law of Motion.
They can also describe another situation in their daily lives where
Newton's First Law of Motion is at work.
