Discuss with the students the material under the Overview and
Teacher Text in this lesson. Make sure that every student has at
least some understanding of inertia.
|
|
Decide if you want to have 2 to 4 students in each group. Pass
out the materials and demonstrate for the class the experiment:
place a hard-boiled egg and an uncooked egg on a counter or table
top. Spin the hard-boiled egg. While it is spinning, stop it for
a moment. Then release it. You will find that the egg remains at
rest. Repeat the experiment with the uncooked egg. This time,
the egg starts moving again when you release it.

|
Make sure that each student has an opportunity to do the
experiment.
|
|
Have each student write a short paragraph on what happened during
the experiment in relationship to inertia.
