WHY?
-
The steeper the hill, the faster a round object rills down it.
The speed of the roly-polies can be increased by increasing the height of
the raised end of the cookie sheet. When Newton first discovered the
Laws of Motion he also experimented with different objects and observed
what happened to them when gravity's force acted upon them.

ASSESSMENT: Can the student communicate
what they observed?
Student is able to communicate how Newton's Second Law of Motion
affects the roly polies on the cookie sheet. The student is also able to
apply this Law of Motion to at least one other application - example -
riding one's bike down a hill. (The bike's wheels roll down the hill.)
Student is able to communicate some of the reasons how Newton's
Second Law of Motion affects the roly polies on the cookie sheet.

Student is able to communicate that when you squeeze a drop of
colored water on the powdered cookie sheet it rolls down to the bottom.
