Sense of Balance

SCIENCE CONCEPT:

Newton's First Law of Motion: objects at rest remain at rest and objects in motion remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.

STUDENT OBJECTIVE:

The student will discover a part of Newton's First Law of Motion: an object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.

OVERVIEW:

The student will use water and a 2-liter bottle to discover that an object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an outside force. Applica- tion to our sense of balance will also be discovered.

PREPARATION TIME:

5 minutes.

LESSON TIME:

10 minutes.
