Test For Friction
WHY? question_guy
In making anything move a force is needed. If the friction is too great, the object will not move, but if a lubrication is applied the friction will be reduced enough for the object to move. In some cases a ball bearing or streamlining is applied to cause the object to be able to move efficiently. In Newton's First Law of Motion friction is apart of the Law. Friction is the force that happens when two things rub together. The friction opposes motion and makes things slow down.
ASSESSMENT: Can the student communicate what they observed?

question_guy
four Student is able to communicate that when lubrication is applied between two surfaces it helps move the top piece, changing the power of the friction. The student is also able to describe how friction applies to Newton's First Law of Motion.

three Student is able to communicate most of what happens when lubrication is applied between two surfaces to help move the top piece, changing the power of the friction. The student is also able to describe how friction applies to Newton's First Law of Motion.

two Student is able to communicate some of what happens when lubrication is applied between two surfaces to help move the top piece, changing the power of the friction. The student is also able to describe how friction applies to Newton's First Law of Motion.

one Student is able to communicate something of what happens when lubrication is applied between two surfaces to help move the top piece, changing the power of the friction.
