WHY?
|
|
-
Motion, friction, acceleration, gravity, and energy are always in
view when we discuss Newton's Laws of Motion. There is friction when any
object moves and rubs against another. That is why the unopened matchbox
will fall over everytime. The matchbox bounces because it cannot lose
all its energy and has to keep on moving. But when the inner tray of the
matchbox is open, only the inner tray keeps on moving. Friction quickly
brings the box to a stop, so that the box does not bounce. Because of
the change in shape of the box (with the inner tray open), it causes
friction which takes up the energy by turning it into heat.
