STEPS TO FOLLOW:

one Discuss the material under the Science Concept and Teacher Text. Make sure that each student has some understanding of how energy has to go somewhere when a force acts on an objects.

two Talk about the safety tip of how the matches are to stay in the box. Pass out the matchboxes to each team of two students.

three Have each team do the two parts of the experiment. First, dropping the matchbox closed and secondly, with the inner tray open.

four Have each team write down their findings on paper of what happens to the matchbox in both experiments.

five Have a time of discussion as a whole class after the teams have completed their experiment.
