MATERIALS NEEDED:

Library books from the library about insects

Blackboard with erasers

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

one Pass out the books from the library on insects to the students. Have them look through them. Discuss together the information that the class gains from the books.

two Discuss with the class the information from the Teacher Text.

three Do the three exercises with the class that are mentioned under the "Overview" in this text. Ask the students for other ideas of tasks that can be done to experience the passing of time in beats per second. Do these exercises with the class also.

four After completing the tasks have another discussion with the class about their experience. Have them imagine what it would be like to be an insect for a day and to be able to fly so rapidly.

five As an extension you could write a one page story together about insect flight.
