Share the pictures of the butterflies before starting the project.

Emphasize the delicacy of touching the butterflies - that they can
fall apart easily.
There are two ways to mount an butterfly. One way is to place the
dead butterfly on a cotton ball inside of a jar lid and cover it with
plastic wrap. The other way is to stick a straight pin through its
thorax and mount the pin on a piece of cardboard.

The wings of the butterfly can be opened to a flying position by
placing pins in the opened wings.
There will need to be additional pins placed around the butterfly to
hold them in position. When it dries out, the butterfly will remain in
the position it is pinned and stretched to. The pins can then be
removed.
If a magnifying glass is used to view the pinned insect, the
butterfly's proboscis can be seen, the veins on a wing can be observed.
Display the mounted butterflies on a table. Be sure to label them.
