WHY? Insect populations are always multiplying. Everywhere you look you will find insects. The majority of insects have 2 wings in their adult stage. They are always flying about. Creating a zoo in a classroom affords the children an opportunity to see many insects together. In this way they can view first hand the similarities and differences between various insects. There will never be a lack of insects in our world! ASSESSMENT: Can the student communicate what they observed?

Student is able to distinguish all of the insects in the Creature Zoo and give at least four characteristics of each of the insects. Student is able to distinguish most of the insects in the Creature Zoo and give at least three characteristics of each of the insects. Student is able to distinguish some of the insects in the Creature Zoo and give at least two characteristics of each of the insects. Student is able to distinguish one of the insects in the Creature Zoo and give at least one characteristic of that insect.
