Sequencing Events in a Myth

MATERIALS NEEDED:
  • set of pictures of a myth or a paragraph of a myth printed in big print on paper from this Web textbook
  • scissors for the children
  • paste
  • blank paper

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

1

The children get a copy of the pictures or the paragraph of a myth where the sequence of events is obvious.

2 Read the story or paragraph out loud with the children.

3 Discuss the sequence of events with the children until they understand the sequence.

4 Assess their understanding by having the children cut the pictures or the paragraph into sentences. They mix up the pictures or sentences.

5 The children paste their final decisions about the sequence of events on the blank paper.

6 Discuss the various answers from the children and what their reasons were for their decisions.
