Sorting and Classifying Mythological Characters

MATERIALS NEEDED:

several myths written at grade level

paper

pencils/pens/markers/crayons

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

one Read a myth.

two List all the characters.

three Brainstorm and choose categories to use to classify characters.

four Sort the characters into categories such as birds, animals, humans.

five Re-sort in some other way (by color or by job).

six Re-sort in another way if possible.

seven Read another myth and do the same thing except sort the characters in both myths.

eight Is there a pattern about characters in myths?

nine Try sorting again with another myth. What are the patterns?

ten Make a bulletin board to show the categories and the classifications.

eleven Continue to add and sort with more myths.
