General Preferences, Mail and News Preferences, Netscape Preferences,and Security Preferences allow you to adjust several types of Netscape settings. Show Toolbar, Show Location, Show Directory Buttons, and Show Java Console allows you turn the display of the specified items on or off. A check mark by the item indicates that the display is turned on. No check mark indicates that the item is turned off. Auto Load Images allows you to choose whether or not images will automatically be loaded when you visit a page. Images take longer to load than text so if you are using a modem, you may choose to turn this option off. If you then visit a page, such as this one, where it may be important to see the image, simply click on the Images button in the toolbar. Document Encoding allows you to choose how you want the text to be displayed.
