How Do I Use the Toolbar?

The toolbar is a row of buttons at the top of the Netscape document window that can be used to navigate the Web. reload pages and images, open new locations, print the current page, find specific words on the current page, and stop transfers in progress.

The toolbar is normally displayed as pictures and text like the example above. However, you can choose to display it as text only or as pictures only by changing your preferences in the OPTIONS pull-down menu.

The Back button allows you to move backwards to revisit pages that you've seen during the current session. The Back button relies on a history list to remember where you've been. You can see the history list by clicking the word Go in the Pull-down menu at the top of your screen and holding down the mouse button. When you have reached the last item on the history list, the Back button will become pale - indicating that you cannot move backwards any further.

Reload Button Use the Reload button to reload the page after the transmission has been interrupted during the downloading process.

Images Button This is a cool button. Since graphics take longer to load than text, you might choose to not automatically load images as you navigate the Web. (You can do this by positioning your pointer over Options in the pull-down menu at the top of your screen. Hold down the mouse button and drag your pointer to Auto Load Images. Then release the mouse button.)

Now when you go to a new page, instead of seeing pictures, you'll see a little icon that indicates that there is usually a picture there.

If you get to a page (such as this one) where it might be important to see the pictures, simply click on the Image button and Netscape will load them.
