Ball/Court Interaction

Now let's look at some footage of rebound heights and angles.

Again we have three videos for you to review: the red clay court with the Roland Garros ball used at the French Open; the hard court using the Wilson US Open ball; and the grass court with the Slazenger ball used at Wimbledon.

All of these were launched from the ball machine with no spin and approximately the same speed. Look at the huge difference in the angle after the bounce, the height of the bounce, and the distance along the court (horizontal distance) the ball travels to reach the maximum height of the grass court compared to the other two courts!
